Existing pain therapies have been very good at decreasing pain by masking discomfort in a “band aid” fashion with medications like narcotics, steroids, or NSAIDs. These therapies do not fix the underlying problem.

Fixing Tissue Injury

So how is the issue actually repaired, whether it’s hip/knee/shoulder arthritis, back or neck pain, rotator cuff tendonitis, golfer’s or tennis elbow, or a ligament injury?

Regenerative Medicine at MD Pain has the capability to restore anatomy by using regenerative therapies with platelet rich plasma therapy, stem cells, and growth factors to facilitate a healing response in one’s own body.

Stem Cells are similar to a blank slate and may change into any number of cell types for tissue regeneration depending on the environment where they are placed.

MD Pain Stem Cell Procedures

Stem cell injection therapies include:Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy Research

These are all low risk, minimally invasive, same day, outpatient procedures. The services may be partially covered by insurance.

Initial research is showing these stem cell therapies to provide substantial promise in healing injury while decreasing pain. For example, most professional sports leagues have approved of platelet rich plasma therapy along with the World Anti-Doping Association.

Pro athletes who have received regenerative medicine treatment include the likes of Tiger Woods, Rafael Nadal, Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant, Bartolo Colon and many more.

All of the treatments at MD Pain are performed by Board Certified physicians.

Christopher J. Huser, MD, specializes in regenerative therapies and interventional pain management at Metro Denver Pain Management. He serves his patients throughout Greenwood Village, Parker, Thornton, and the surrounding Colorado area by helping them actively manage acute or chronic pain.

Dr. Huser earned his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. While there, he was recognized for clinically outstanding work in internal medicine, anesthesiology, critical care, surgery, and pediatrics. After graduation, he continued onto Northwestern University, where he completed both his anesthesiology training and pain fellowship.

Since moving to Colorado, Dr. Huser has continued to use interventional, multidisciplinary, and medical treatments for acute and chronic pain. He has extensive training in pain diagnosis and believes patients should have the tools to actively manage their pain. Those tools include — but are not limited to — medication, physical therapy, multidisciplinary management, regenerative therapies and injections.

Board Certified Jonathan Bernardini, MD

Dr. D. Jonathan Bernardini is known as one of the top pain management and regenerative medicine specialists in Greenwood Village, Parker, and Thornton, Colorado.

Dr. Bernardini earned his medical degree at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and went on to complete an internship in general surgery at the University of California Davis Medical Center in central California. He served as an active-duty flight surgeon for five years at bases in Korea and Italy before completing an anesthesiology residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School, both in Massachusetts.

With his specialized pain medicine training from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, one of the most esteemed pain management programs in the United States, Dr. Bernardini offers a range of interventional and non-interventional methods to treat many painful conditions, from headaches and neck and back pain to cancer pain and more. He specializes in helping people with vertebral compression fractures and neuropathic pain conditions by using treatments like medications, injections, and physical therapy.

As one of the few pain specialists with a triple-board certification in interventional pain management by the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians, and anesthesiology and pain medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology, Dr. Bernardini works hard to understand the cause of the pain first so he can recommend the best solution possible. He strives to start with conservative treatments first such as regenerative therapies to help improve quality of life and avoid potentially risky surgeries.

When not presenting scientific papers at national meetings or caring for patients, Dr. Bernardini spends quality time with his wife and two children in their Denver-area home.
